Jalapeno Cheddar Turkey Burgers

Yield: 4 Serving

Per serving:

1 Leaner protein 1 1/3 Condiment 3/4 Fat

Ingredients

  • 28 oz lean turkey or beef
  • 2 tbsp minced onion 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 4 tbsp low-fat cream cheese
  • 2 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 fresh jalapeño pepper, diced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Directions

  1. Preheat grill to medium or oven broil to high
  2. In a bowl combine cream cheese, cheddar, garlic powder, and jalapeño.
  3. Combine meat, salt, pepper, and onion.
  4. Divide meat into 4 even pieces (7 oz each)
  5. Take 1/4 cream cheese mixture and flatten into a pancake shape.
  6. Wrap meat around cheese ensuring cheese is completely covered.
  7. Brush burger with olive oil.

To Grill:

Grill burgers over medium heat 6-7 minutes on each side( turkey internal temp 165 and beef internal temp 160°)

To Broil:

Place burgers on a foil-covered pan approximately 6" from broiler. Broil 5-6 minutes on each side
